Be sure to pay attention when reserving your dates to avoid hurricane season if that is a concern.
Currency and Tipping
The Jamaican Dollar (JMD) is the local currency, but US dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas. Tipping is customary, with a typical range of 10-15% on certain resort properties. If staying at a Sandals or Beaches resort, tipping is against Sandals and Beaches policy for most staff on property.
Electricity and Essentials
Type A and Type B plugs with 110V supply voltage and 50Hz are your standard outlets. Remember to pack essentials like sunscreen, bug spray, light clothing, and comfortable shoes.
